- Condition:This work has been relined on a modern canvas and an attribution appended on the back of the canvas in ink by a European hand. The work has some evidence of inpainting and damage, but it is hard to determine the extent or kind of damage due to the fact that it was glued down on a support canvas and restored to a presentable condition.
- Size:
12 by 11 in. (30 x 27 cm.)
- Provenance: The current owner, a widow who escaped Hungary in 1956, acquired this work from a Los Angeles or New York Gallery in the 50's or early 60's. She was told that the work was carried out of Hungary by a man fleeing the Russian occupation after WW II. He could not take the entire painting and cut out the portrait portion and took that. There is no documentation of this provenance.

- Note: Elaborate carved period frame.
