Framing: Sold unframed Note: The Kalaga is the traditional name for embroidered tapestries from the Myanmar region in Burma. The Kalagas are handmade mainly in the Shwe Chi Doe style, which go back more than a century. Each wall painting is made using cotton, colored threads, beads, sequins, and glass stones. The figures are three dimensional and thus more life like as the result of being stuffed with cotton.The kalgas mainly consist of stories of Jataka ( Buddha's journey towards enlightenment), The Ramayana, historical scenes, zodiac signs, and various lucky animals. These bright and colorful decorations are often seen on Burmese temple walls. The Kalagas are best framed without a glass so that the intricate detail can be appreciated. These wall paintings can also be hung without a frame and come with loops at the top for that purpose.
