U.S.I.S operated European field offices for the United States Information Agency after World War II. "The U.S.I.S. has done a very effective job since the end of World War II of making French intellectuals aware of the great scope of American artistic, scientific and educational achievements..."(N.Y. Times July 5, 1964) This appears to be a proof for one of the releases of the U.S.I.S. which from time to time produced images of American artists. The original photographs are now in the National Archives. The proof appears to have been approved by the signature of "Man Ray" as pointed out by the red arrows.
