    "Two Sunflowers"

lithograph printed in colors on Arches paper, 1954, signed originally in ink, retraced in pencil, numbered 67/75,

  • Condition: The full sheet, strong colors, with very faint toning to the outer 2 inches of the sheet.
  • Sheet: 26 by 20 in. (65 x 50 cm.)
  • References: Recorded and illustrated in the catalog raissone of the artist by William Saphire, No. 135.
  • Framing: Framed in accordance with accepted conservation standards, acid free mats and mounts, removable hinging.
  • Note: Leger was one a pioneer in the use of ball point pen to sign his prints. Unfortunately most of these signatures have faded substantially as here. The faint signature was faithfully retraced in pencil.

The date in the plate (53) refers to the date of a gouache used as the basis for the lithograph which was actually created and printed in 1954(Saphire p. 247)
